WALLEYE FISHING

Fishing for Walleye

Prized for their tasty fillets, Walleye are identifiable by their toothy jaws, olive gold color, and milky-colored eyes. They are a favorite when it comes to recreational fishing.

Where to find walleye.

Most walleye are caught between 10-30 feet. They love cool, dark water, so you’ll want to fish within a few feet of the bottom of the lake to find them.

Tackle and Lure Suggestions

  • A medium-weight fast-action rod
  • 8-pound monofilament line or slightly heavier
  • 1/4 to 3/8 ounce jig heads with medium or long shanks.

Tips for Catching Walleye

Walleye have excellent eyesight, which means they can be finicky when biting onto your lure. Here are a few suggestions to help get them nibbling:

  • We can provide live minnow which are by far their most favourite meal
  • Keep your lure a few feet from the bottom of the lake
  • Try a variety of lures and techniques
